The availability of High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms greatly extends the class of solvable problems. Still, faculty must receive training and staff support before they will feel comfortable enough with these platforms to incorporate their use into the curriculum and their research.
The NSF Supercomputer Centers are an excellent source of information on HPC use in both research and education of their respective computing platforms. Extensive information is available via the World Wide Web (WWW) and those URLs are available from the representatives of each of the centers that are also participating in this session.
I will mention some projects that provide curricula materials in Computational Science via the Web. These are all dynamic activities involving myself and others, therefore only a snapshot will be presented in these notes. Interested readers are encouraged to go directly to the original source on the WWW, since the materials have undoubtedly changed.
