Try to keep your bookmarks "organized" when using Netscape
Netscape provides a hierarchical ordering for your bookmarks. I typically
just "Bookmarks/Add Bookmark" from the task bar,
a lot, and then every couple of weeks try to sit down
and organize them, using the "Bookmarks/Edit Bookmarks" entry. Don't put off organizing/categorizing things.
Netscape does not like you to "edit" your bookmarks.html file,
although it is located in your file space in the .netscape
directory from your root directory. (~stewart/.netscape/bookmarks.html
on the Unix machine we use for classes as SDSU)
You need to find ways to characterize information that
works for you.
If you happen to use Mac or PC labs on campus, you can bring in a
diskette and save your bookmarks on the diskette.
Oh course in the Xterm Lab, this is
not an option, but I'd still invite you to examine the control you
have over your bookmarks by selecting Bookmarks from the
task bar and then Edit Bookmarks, where you can now
File
- Open
- Import
- Save as <<<---- save to your diskette on Mac or PC
- Close
Edit [I don't tend to use this much]
-
Item
- Properties [you can add more information once bookmark is selected]
- Insert Folder [begin to build the hierarchy]
- Insert Separator [clarify by "separating"]
Also, you can always read the documentation for Netscape under the
Help entry from the task bar and examine the wealth
of information available there.
