Game Programming and Hollywood - Avatar as model collaboration

As preparation of CS 583 3D Game Programming course at SDSU, your instructor suggests to see Avatar in 3D Imax. Kris had the good fortune to view at Escondido's Regal 16 + IMAX on Christmas Eve and was inspired. James Cameron has embraced technology thorough his career along the lines that Walt Disney did. Being an ardent Disney Railroad and Disneyland fan, Stewart was luck to visit the opening of the Disney Family Museum (youtube CBS) in San Francisco's Presidio in Sept 2009 and is half way through reading Cameron's biography, The Futurist by Rebecca Keegan. This is a good historical read on the evolution of Computer Graphics, since Cameron pushed the envelope with Aliens, The Abyss, T2 and finally AVATAR!
