CS101 - Concept Maps - Chap. 7 and 8 Group Project - BAM120
April 10, 2002

Dr. Kris Stewart (stewart@rohan.sdsu.edu)
San Diego State University

To begin the discussion of Chapter 7: Communications Technology,

If you have a computer of your own (at home or some other lab on campus), you might want to install this Concept Mapping Software, which I ask students to use as part of their group assignment.

IHMConcept Map Software samples for getting started. Of course, the full software for download, tutorials, and detailed related information is available from their IHMC main site.

This software is installed on the computers in BAM120 (and BAM121) and you can run the software - starting with the Start button.

During the next two weeks, I will expect students to form into groups to produce "electronic concept maps" on a topic chosen through discussions with the course instructor. The topic should be based on material from Ch. 7 (Communications Technologies)

or Ch. 8 (Internet and the World Wide Web)

Each group will be required to produce a web page (on a student rohan account) that presents your discoveries. You will be expected to share this with the class at the end of the semester.

What does it mean to work as a group?
