1. James Frazee suggested Distance Learning policy last fall.
As you may recall from our efforts with the Hybrid Course Designation Policy last spring, there is widespread agreement within our committee about the need to simplify the existing DL policy. In fact, many faculty members and the Provost, tell me that the existing process to get a course approved for online delivery is too cumbersome and is a barrier to entry for faculty interested in taking advantage of this modality. My goal here is to streamline the process while preserving the spirit of the policy (i.e., ensuring instructional quality).

Our note from Senate Chair Edith Benkov:
Cheryl Washington has requested that I communicate to you that the deadline for campus feedback on the draft security policy has been extended to 2:00pm March 2nd, 2009.

What is the best way to organize our response?

it would be good for you to take a moment and ask them now things are going?

We are asked to supply a report to the Senate Exec for their meeting in February on faculty feedback. Have you heard from any faculty in your college that are having issues with the new security policies?

these documents are online from security.sdsu.edu

Rich - You had a verbal summary of this and how it compares to our campus security documents. Could you formalize into a report the committee could view and present back to the Senate Exec for their February meeting?
