Based on responses to this survey, CBL plans to make recommendations for Policy File and Bylaws proposals for modification of the committee system at SDSU. Hearing from every functioning campus committee is important to this process, so we ask you to please consult with your committee and respond to this survey not later tha= n March 1, 2011. You may return the survey by replying to this email. Please review the description of the Instructional and Information Technology Committee, from the University Policy File: 1.0 Membership (16): nine faculty, one from each college, the Imperial Valley Campus and the Library; one staff member; one student; Director of Instructional=20 Technology Services or Designee; Chief Information Officer or designee; Academic Affairs Information Technology Coordinator or Designee; Informatio= n Technology Security Office Designee appointed by the Associate Vice President for Financial Operations; representative selected by and from the Information Technology Managers Group. 2.0 Functions=20 2.1 The Committee shall advise the administration and the Senate on instructional and information technologies. 2.2 The Committee shall assist the Directors of Instructional Technology Services, the Library, the Academic Affairs Information Technology Coordinator, and other campus Instructional / Information Technology offices, with developing long-range master plans and shall review and make recommendations on the mission and services of ITS, the Library and Academi= c Affairs on instructional and information technologies. 2.3 The Committee shall consider any matter referred by the Senate or by th= e administration of the University (and may consider, at its own discretion, other matters relating to instructional and information technologies at the campus and CSU system-wide levels.) The committee shall review and provide feedback on campus information technology initiatives as related to instruction, research and operational needs. ============================================================================ Please answer the following questions regarding your committee and its functioning: 1. Is this description of your committee=B9s purpose (in Section 2.0) adequate? What changes, if any, would you propose to make to this section? 2. Is the committee membership adequate for carrying out your assigned purpose? Should the membership increase or decrease in size? Please offer specific proposals if changes should be made. 3. How often does the committee meet? How many times did it meet in the 2009-10 academic year? Are the number of meetings adequate to accomplish the committee=B9s purpose? 4. How does the committee manage rotation of its members? 5. How does the committee manage rotation of the chair? 6. How does your committee view its relationship with the Senate, the Senate Executive Committee, and the Senate office (Officers, Administrative Coordinator)? How supported to you feel in doing your work by the administrative structure of the Senate? When issues within your committee have arisen, to what degree were you able to use the Senate administrative structure to help you resolve those issues? To what extent has the Senate's administrative structure been responsive to your committee's ideas? If appropriate, make recommendations for changes in the ways committee work is managed at SDSU. 7.
